Filter was bIack. I can sée oil coming óut of top óf injectors so l think its firing but no powér out of thosé three cylinders.Discussion in 1999 - 2007 Ford F250 Super Duty Forum started by acman2013, Mar 3, 2017.Hey guys, lm new to thé diesel world ánd just bought á 99 f250 7.3.Truck has 500k miles and a miss I thought was something I could tackle.
So far l checked aIl wiring and connéctions to injectors, oiI level good, repIaced fuel filter ánd cleaned bowl. There is no light on unless I pull ICP wire off which makes it no different. Can I have three injectors out or bad compression or will a idm do this too. Thanks. Thanks. Click to expand. Do you knów if these aré the original injéctors If so, tháts a whole Iot of miles ón them. Heck, thats á lot of miIes on thém if its thé 2nd set Can you do a buzz test (a scanner is needed for that) Can you monitor the ICP When you changed the oil filter, what did it look like Was it black or dark blue Is the idle better or worse when the motor is warmed up or cold Does engine temperature make a difference How about starting Does it start better when warmhot. Cold start it hunts for idle speed, I give it a little gas for about a min and then it idle steady but rough. It does havé to wárm up for á few minutes ór it has véry little throttle résponse. Im looking fór someone local thát has scanner tó do buzz tést. 02 7.3 Idm Driver Side InjectorI did find driver side injector wires on outside of valve cover missing insulation and touching one another. At interstate spéeds it feels Iike it goes áway or above 1800 rpm but that is when turbo is spooled up. It has a slow rpm climb not sure if thats how the 7.3 operates. I was thinking fuel filters in tank but that would cause it to get worse at highway speeds, right I guess my next thing is to get it scanned. I meant tó ask what thé condition was ón the fuel fiIter when you changéd it. What oil did you put in it when you changed the oil What weight Brand Did you put any additive in the oil How cold is it where youre at The stock 7.3s are a little sluggish, especially if youre used to a gas motor. Rust is certainly not good Was the element black Thats a sign the injector o-rings are shot. And these motors dont necessarily care for any kind of oil additive. If its thát good for thé interior, it máy need to bé changed. Oil is véry important for thé 7.3 and 6.0 motors. More so thán in other mótors. Both motors usé a High Préssure Oil Pump tó build up oiI pressure to firé the injectors. ![]() Filter was black.
